Käsipallo on vauhdikas ja hauska joukkuelaji, jossa heitetään ja syötetään palloa, tavoitteena tehdä enemmän maaleja kuin vastustaja. Käsipalloa pelaavat sekä tytöt että pojat, ja käsipallon voi aloittaa jo alle kouluikäisenä tai aikuisiällä. Pallon käsitteleminen käsillä ei ole kovin vaikeaa ja siksi käsipalloon pääsee nopeasti mukaan. Ottelut ovat maalirikkaita ja joka hetki tapahtuu jotain. Pelaajat saavat paljon pallokontaktia ja maalintekopaikkoja. Laji ei myöskään vaadi paljon varusteita – sisäpelikengät ja vesipullo riittävät mainiosti.

Käsipalloa pelataan pääsääntöisesti sisällä, mutta ulkoturnauksiakin järjestetään. ÅIFK:n elokuussa järjestettävä GANT Beach Cup, jossa käsipalloa pelataan nelihenkisin joukkuein rannalla, on Suomen toiseksi suurin turnaus.

Harjoittelemme seuraavasti:

• Tiistaisin klo 16.00–18.00, Samppalinnan palloilhalli.
• Keskiviikkoisin klo 18.15–20.30, Samppalinnan palloilhalli.
• Lauantaisin klo 10.30–12.30, Lausteen palloilhalli.

Handball is a fast and fun team sport in which the ball is thrown and passed, with the aim of scoring more goals than the opponent. Both girls and boys play handball, and you can start playing handball as early as under school age or as an adult. Handling the ball with your hands is not very difficult and therefore you can quickly get involved in handball. The matches are full of goals and something happens every moment. The players get a lot of ball contact and chances to score. The sport also doesn't require a lot of equipment – indoor shoes and a water bottle are perfectly sufficient.

Handball is mainly played indoors, but outdoor tournaments are also organized; the GANT Beach Cup organized by ÅIFK in August, where handball is played in teams of four on the beach, is the third largest tournament in Finland with 120+ participating teams and 1200+ players competing on 7 fields over two days.

• Tuesdays 16.00-18.00, Samppalinna Ball Sports Arena
• Wednesdays 18.15-20.30, Samppalinna Ball Sports Arena
• Saturdays 10.30-12.30, Lauste Sports Hall
